Ways to Contribute
Thank you so much for considering a contribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley (BGCNV). We rely on the financial support of the community to keep our programs and services available to over 700 youth each day in the Butte County region. There are many ways to support BGCNV and every contribution has an impact on the lives of our members.
WHY YOUR PERSONAL GIFT MATTERS
- Your contributions close the gap between the $10 a year membership fee we charge and the $1,200 a year that it actually costs us per member.
- Your gift demonstrates the power of private enterprise and personal dedication in solving community problems and celebrates charitable giving rather than government dependency.
- Your personal investment demonstrates to young people your commitment to their success and makes them more likely to:
- Rise up to meet your expectations
- Take ownership and pride in their club
- Take ownership and pride in their community
- Feel more connected to their community
- Someday do for someone else what you have done for them.
- Your financial support leverages funds from other sources both within and outside of the community. This not only increases the value of your contribution, but it brings resources into the community contributing to overall economic health and vitality.
- Your donation is buffer against the volatility of government funding and ensures that our doors will stay open. If the club doesn’t have to rely solely, or even largely, on government funds, our future is more sustainable.
- Your contribution entitles you to greater sense of involvement, ownership and influence.
- Your unrestricted gift enables the club to spend its time on developing and implementing programs and activities with the kids rather than managing and administrating cumbersome grants and public programs.
- Your unrestricted gift ensures that we continue to place a priority on providing programs and activities that the community wants and needs.
- Your generosity is contagious! When you give, others will too.

Click on our DONATE NOW button and set up your donation on a monthly basis to make it easier to give the amount you want to give. For as little as $10 a month you can donate over $100 (!) and make an even bigger impact on a child's life. Go for it! You'll be glad you did.
In Memory Of / In Honor Of / A Tribute To / In the Name Of
Sometimes the best way to honor someone is to give in their behalf. Whether you have lost a loved one or would simply like to acknowledge and honor a special person in your life, a gift to the Boys & Girls Club is truly the gift that will keep on giving. Many people are choosing this option instead of wedding, holiday, graduation or even birthday gifts. When you make a gift to the club in honor of someone, we will acknowledge your gift by a letter to that person or his or her family that a donation has been made by you in their honor or memory and their name (and yours) will be included in our Friends & Supporters webpage.
Very Special Gifts
Sometimes these gifts are called Major Gifts. While most of our donations are under $100, we do have friends and supporters who regularly, or from time to time, can give more - and do! Sometimes these come in the form of a BIG surprise and sometimes a donor would like to help us accomplish a particular goal and will call to meet with us and find out what we need. Opportunities for making a Very Special Gift include:
- For a specific campaign or project (BE Great Annual Campaign, Oroville Founders; Chico Technology)
- To develop or advance a program initiative (such as Eco Team, Academics Plus, etc)
- To become a Jeremiah Millbank donor
- Toward the Boys & Girls Club Endowment
Bricks, Tiles and Benches
As part of our expansion efforts in Chico we have built a lovely community landmark and plaza in our downtown campus for kids. In the plaza we have a Leadership Walkway that connects the Ostrander Clubhouse with the Nettleton Gymnasium and Teen Center and it is lined with bricks and tiles that are ready and waiting to be enscribed with a message or names of your choosing. The benches, which have been individually crafted by local artist, Greg Payne, can also be affixed with your personalized bronze plaque. Bricks are $100; Tiles are $1,000 and the Benches are $5,000.
Matching Gifts
Will your employer match your gift to the Boys & Girls Club? Many companies and organizations have Matching Gift Programs that will double or even triple the amount of your gift and increase the impact of your donation. Contact your Human Resources or Community Affairs office for details on how your company can join in supporting the BGCNV. If your company will help, let us know and we will list them on our Community Friends & Supporters webpage. Then tell your colleagues and we can REALLY make difference!
United Way
If your company has an employee-giving program through United Way, you can designate your contribution to go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley.
Fundraising Events
Each year the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley holds a number of fundraisers that help to support the programs and services of the clubs in Chico, Paradise, Oroville and Juvenile Hall. We are always looking for business sponsors to partner with the club in meeting its fund-raising and friend-raising goals. The two primary fundraising special events are:
- Valentines Gala
- Links Across Time Golf Tournament
For more information on how you or your business can support and participate in these and other events in your community please click here.
Gifts of Property
There are many ways to use your personal assets to make a difference in the lives of our children. If you have a piece of property, a home or business that you are interested in donating to charity, there may be a way that you can help us and we can help you. Depending on the property and your intentions, you may be able to donate the item directly to the club or even place the property in a trust to be sold that could give you a great tax break now and even future income. If this sounds like something you might be interested in pursuing, please contact our Development Department or CEO to discuss it. We have trusted legal and financial advisors available to help you and us determine whether or not a gift like this will work for everyone.
Gifts of Personal Items
While we appreciate the generosity of our community, due to the abundance of items offered by our donors, the time and effort it takes to assess an item, safety and liability concerns and our limited staff resources, we are typically NOT able to accept your used household items. These items include:
- Couches & furniture
- Computers & other Technology
- Games Room Equipment
- Exercise Equipment
- Appliances
We encourage you to donate your computers to Computers For Classrooms.
For other items please consider supporting the following charities with whom we work and on whom many of our families depend.
- Salvation Army, Chico, Paradise & Oroville
- Discovery Shoppe, Chico
The following items are general items needed for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley on an ongoing basis. Items are distributed to clubs as needed. If you would like to donate to a specific club or in general to a club in your community, please click on the community below:
