Boys and Girls Club of North Valley

Volunteering

Volunteers are a very important part of our team, and help us reach our mission; to inspire and enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The dedication of our volunteers provides our members with valuable relationships and encouraging smiles that significantly enhance their quality of life.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley offers many opportunities for you to show the youth of Chico, Paradise, and Oroville just how much you care and make a difference in their lives. We invite and encourage YOU to become a part of our family and believe you will thoroughly enjoy your volunteer experience with us.

The volunteer experiences we can offer range anywhere from being in our club on a daily basis working with youth or you may find that you have some extra time to help us in our administrative offices.  Some volunteers like to do a special project with the kids that may have a beginning and end.  Other volunteers like to participate in our club or community events, such as feeding meals to youth and families at Thanksgiving, working at our annual birthday party or even volunteering at one of our premiere fundraising events such as the golf tournament or Valentines Gala.  Another option is for groups and organizations to volunteer together.  This is a great business or group team-building activity while helping us out tremendously!

We are always looking for tutors, homework helpers, games room attendants and sport enthusiasts who can help to enrich the programs we already run and enable even more young people to join in.  We are also very interested in expanding the experiences of our young people through the skills and special talents our volunteers bring.  If you have a particular skill related to fine arts, crafts, dance, drama, music, computer technology, cooking and you are good with kids between the ages of 6 and 18, please let us know.

Volunteer Options for Individuals, Groups or Businesses

Becoming a Voluteer is as easy as 1-2-3!!!

1st:  Download and complete volunteer application or contact us via email (sdinits@bgcnv.org) or call our HR department at 530 899-0335

2nd:  Attend a volunteer orientation or meeting. You will learn all about the programs, services and volunteer opportunities available at our clubs.  You will find out about our policies and approach to youth development and see if there are areas that fit with your interests.  You will be contacted about attending an orientation once we receive your completed application.

3rd:  Clear a background check.  All ongoing volunteers who will be working with youth on a regular basis are carefully screened to ensure the safety of our members.  You will receive more information about this at the orientation.  If you or your group are only volunteering for a one time event or special fundraising event, a background check is usually not necessary.
