Programs
The five Core Program Areas provide an overall framework for programming in a Boys and Girls Club. Every Club should provide a diverse program that will attract and retain boys and girls with a wide variety of interests and needs. This is accomplished partly by offering programs in all five Core Program Areas. Following are descriptions of the five Core Program Areas, along with examples of programs that fall into each area.

Taekwondo
At the Boys & Girls Club we study the traditional style of Chung Do Kwan Taekwondo, which originated in Korea. Emphasis is placed on mastering forms, preset patterns of movement, and controlled freestyle sparring. Workouts are held every Tuesday and Thursday in the Boys & Girls Club gym at 601 Wall Street, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Training sessions are energetic with a focus on appropriate skill development for each student. New students, between the ages of 8-17, and their parents are welcome to start class at anytime, requiring no more than cofortable clothing to begin training.
Classes are structured so that each rank of students receives individual instruction during class. Students, under the guidance of the instructors, establish achevable goals and advancement in rank as a direct result of their own efforts. Each individual student will determine how fast they advance through the ranks as a result of their class attendance and dedication. Students may approach their training with different goals or individual challenges, all of which can be achieved, allowing students to advance as far as they wish in the art of Taekwondo.
