Friends & Supporters
The Boys & Girls Club appreciates its strong partnerships with local and locally-based businesses. Many of our local business contribute annually to the club either through a cash contribution, a service provided for free or at a significantly discounted rate, through providing their staff to help us on a special project or club clean up or by developing their own fundraising event to benefit the Club. However our community business partners choose to support the club we not only appreciate their direct contribution but we also appreciate the positive message it sends to our members.

Smucker Natural Foods, Inc.

Smucker Natural Foods, Inc., has selected the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley as their charity for the 2010-2011 year. Through this partnership, 5 to 10 teen members of the Chico Teen Center will participate in a job coaching and mentoring program where they will have the opportunity to job shadow and learn from the various departments of Smucker. Teens will begin their training at the Teen Center by learning skills through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Career Launch program developing cover letters and resumes while learning basic skills regarding acquiring and maintaining a job and will also visit the Smucker facilities multiple times over the 16-week training course. The overall goal of this program is to provide our teens with the knowledge of what resources are available in our community and to help them understand what it takes to reach their goals of securing successful jobs as they grow.
Smucker Natural Foods will also assist the Club with food and clothing drives for its members as well as volunteer at events and in daily Club programs. Smucker hopes to encourage other businesses in our area to collaborate with our programs to continue to help our young people be contributing members of our society who are happy and healthy.
Pledge
For every system that Alternative Energy Systems Inc. sells as of March 10, 2010, we will donate $500 to be placed into a special account that will be used to purchase and install a 9kw Solar System; enough solar to offset 20 percent of the Chico Teen Center's power needs.
Why
Alternative Energy Systems Inc. is a locally owned Solar Integration Company. Tim Hamor and Lance McClung founded AES in 2004 with quality and customer satisfaction being the guiding principle. Through their efforts, Alternative Energy Systems Inc. has become the North Valley's Leading Residential Solar Integrator. We appreciate our success and want to give back to our community.
Starting with the Boys & Girls Club was naturally our first thought due to our previous participation on the committee to achieve LEED status for the Chico facility. We look forward to working with the BGCNV on this campaign and are excited about the opportunity to give back to the community.
AES's Goals for this campaign:
- To offset 50 percent of the Chico Teen Center's energy usage.
- To have enough funds to start the project by the end of November 2010.
- To incentivize other grant opportunities and donors by encouraging them to participate in our effort to help the BGCNV go Solar.
- Participate in the grant writing process by providing man power and technical information when needed.
- To collectively market this campaign (AES & BGCNV) in a way that brings positive exposure to the Boys & Girls Club and its contributions to our community.
- Through media exposure and marketing efforts, create a continued interest in the positive aspects of solar.
- Provide an opportunity to capture LEED credits toward BGCNV goals.
