Yes, it's true....it's time to move on. As you can see in the "News" section, we will be having a new CEO very soon! I have worked with Rashell for almost 13 years, building the organization from a dream to a reality. I am thrilled that she has been selected and has accepted the best job in the world....mine!
After thirty five years in the community, thirteen years with the Boys & Girls Club and friendships too numerous to count, I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with such a stellar staff and board and community. What we have accomplished together for the kids in our communities who need us most has been tremendously rewarding, humbling and so much fun!
I have let the board and staff know that I will be here, in whatever capacity is needed, over these next few months to ensure a successful leadership transition. I am fully confident that our board has the requisite sense of purpose; an enduring commitment to the mission, the clarity of vision and a firm hand on the rudder of the organization, that will be needed to guide the club to provide even more profound and positive impacts on the young people we serve.
The staff is the best I have ever worked with in my life. If you ever once have a doubt in your mind about the future of this country and the moral compass of the next generation, please come to the Boys & Girls Club – any club in your community – between the hours of 3pm and 6pm. You will be renewed. As I am every single day I am here. The next generation is in very good hands. And so is the Boys & Girls Club.
Thank you for everything that you have given to the club and to the kids and to me over these years. The only regret I will ever have is that I have been unable to thank each and every one of you enough for your guidance and support. I think of you every single day and count my blessings.
I am looking forward to working with you over the next few months and I will certainly be in touch. There are some important projects to complete before I pass the torch and I am excited to get a few more things done before I go.
I urge you to stay involved with the club. Please continue to contribute your time and talents and treasures. We will need you more than ever as we move into the next decade of service to youth. There is so much more to do!
Congratulations Rashell. Your compassion, integrity, joy and humour will go a long way to keeping this great organization ....the POSITIVE Place For Kids!
With gratitude,
Maureen
