Chico, CA…. After a three-month nation-wide search, the Governing Board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley (BGCNV) announced today that it has named long-time club staff and current BGCNV Chief Operations Officer, Rashell Brobst, as incoming Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Brobst will replace current CEO, Maureen Price, who will be stepping down from the position effective June 30, 2010.

Price announced to the board last November that she planned to move to Sacramento in 2010 and that she would be vacating her position following the selection and transition of a new CEO.  The Governing Board appointed a Search Committee which conducted a national search receiving over 100 applications from as far away as Japan. The field was narrowed recently to six highly qualified candidates, including Ms. Brobst who got the unanimous approval of the board. Search Committee Chair and Vice-President Elect, Tim Jones, said the process was deliberate and informative and praised the committee and board for their patience, diligence and thoroughness in the vetting process. “It was nice to be able to have the time to properly consider all applicants. It was even better to have, by far, the best qualified candidate right here in our own organization,” stated Jones. “Rashell has really grown up with the organization and was able to clearly demonstrate the knowledge and depth, not only of the organization but also of the community. We’re very lucky.”
Brobst started with the Boys & Girls Club in its earliest years as a part-time Volunteer Coordinator after she graduated from California State University, Chico with a degree in Recreation Administration. She quickly advanced as the organization grew, changing and creating new positions over the past 15 years. Current CEO, Maureen Price, said that the selection of Brobst as CEO is good news for the future of the organization. “The Boys & Girls Club is very fortunate to have someone of Rashell’s caliber to take the helm. She not only knows the organization from top to bottom, she has tremendous integrity and will always make decisions based on what’s best for kids,” states Price. “Rashell’s reputation extends far beyond our community or region. She has represented us on the national stage, is well-known and respected by our club colleagues throughout the country, and has deeply invested – through her other volunteer work – in our community. I could not be more thrilled!”
Sam Reich, BGCNV Board President, has served on the board for over a decade and echoes those sentiments. “I have had an opportunity to work closely with Rashell in the past several years and have always been impressed by her positive attitude, her hard work and her deep commitment to serving youth who need us most. I think we’re all pleased and very confident that the work and investment that the community has made in the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley will be in very good hands. This bodes well for our future.”
Ms. Brobst will spend the next three months completing the organizational transition before starting her new job July 1, 2010.
