The following is an example of how we achieve our mission to inspire and enable all young people to reach their full potential as caring, productive, responsible citizens.

My two daughters currently attend Citrus Elementary School and have been attending the Boys & Girls Club after school program for approximately three years.  The Boys & Girls Club program has been extremely beneficial to my daughters' social and educational growth, and I strongly recommend that the program continue to be an option for Citrus students.
 
In the three years of them attending the Club my daughters have been able to participate in positive learning experiences in a safe and healthy environment. The Boys & Girls Club of Chico offers the community an environment that encourages healthy development and cultural diversity. As ethnic youth my daughters have especially benefitted from the diversity of both the staff and members of the Club and this has ultimately aided in the development of their self esteem.
 
As a single mother my family has benefitted from the availability of a safe and consistent place for my daughters to go after school while I work. As a single parent locating safe affordable child care after school is a challenge. Throughout the time that my daughters have attended the Boys & Girls Club I have felt secure and confident in knowing that they were receiving appropriate care. This security is extremely important in my own success as a professional in that it allows me to focus on my job.
 
Throughout the time my daughters have attended the Boys & Girls Club of Chico they have grown both socially and academically. They continue to express how much they like attending the Club and have never reported any complaints regarding their experiences there. I feel that it would be a huge disadvantage not only to my family but to the community as a whole to reduce the Boys & Girls Club membership availability.
